Tom Nelson: CAS Production Sound Mixer



Tom Nelson, is a man of many talents, loves, and is driven by an endless, inquisitive mind. Music and Sound became a passion and a career for him. In Dartmouth, Tom's academic devotion to Film, English and Philosophy set him on a life-long journey into the Film Arts, and deeper into Sound - he explored and researched the 'Psychological use of Sound' in all its forms and its specific couplings to visuals in Motion Pictures. Tom has an ongoing love of listening, music, and the psychological use of sound in motion pictures 


Tom's first introduction to film was as a combat cameraman in the USMC. He went on to do numerous Documentaries, then became a Production Sound Mixer in Motion Pictures. “Distance” was his first feature film in a long career of being a valued Production Sound Mixer.


Tom feels he has been blessed to have worked with so many outstanding Film Directors in a career that spans 4 decades: James Ivory, Michel Gondry Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Robert DeNiro The Good Shepherd, Tony Scott,The Taking of Pelham 123, David O. Russell, Silver Lining Playbook, Phillip Noyce, Clear and Present Danger, Judd Apatow,TrainWreck, Harold Ramis, Neil Jordan, and Ken Burns to name a few.


Tom is proud to have worked on "Distance" and to be a part of the speaking panel along with Director Anthony Lover.
